Wed August 6 Omemee Countryside Ride

20 Dudes met for a 9:00 start from The Omemee Curling Club parking lot on James St (1st street west of the stoplights). From the parking lot there is a gate that takes you thru the churchyard to Sturgeon Rd & the KTCT. We cycled west on the KTCT to Reaboro where we stopped in the park beside the trail for a pit stop. From Reaboro we continued to ride west on the KTCT across Slanted Rd to Post Rd (the roads are marked on the trail barricades). Cycled north on Post Rd which is paved up to Tracey’s Hill Rd. At Vince Jones Rd. Conrad, Keith & Garnet cycled east to St Luke’s Rd to meet the others who continued north on Post Rd across Cty Rd 17 to Cheese Factory Rd, which has a corduroy base (from the pioneer era) thru the marsh, cycling east to Heights Rd then south across Cty 17 to meet Conrad where 8 Dudes decided to continue south on Heights Rd to cycle up Tracey’s Hill while we continued east on St Luke’s Rd to Esker Rd then south to Tracey’s Hill Rd to await the arrival of the hill climbers. Everyone continued south on Esker Rd across Peace & Fox Roads to Beaver Rd, west for 2 km to Sibley Ave & south to the KTCT & the cars then to Pete MacLoghlin’s home in Peterborough for a refreshing (some would say cool!) swim & BQ lunch hosted by Pete, Burton McClelland, Barry Diceman & Gord Schmidt. The weather was ideal for cycling, sunny, low humidity & a temperature of 25C. This 40 km route thru the Kawartha Lakes countryside has no hills & gives you the option of either a challenging hill climb or a shorter ride. Left click on the photos to enlarge
