June 10 2015 - Ride from Beavermeade to Lang

We had 28 cyclists turn out for today’s ride. Conrad Hill, Mel Johnson & Bill Punt took turns leading 8 cyclists on a route thru the city. Barry Diceman led 20 cyclists on a route out to Lang. From Beavermeade we cycled east on Ashburham Dr past the LiftLock uphill to Old Norwood Rd. then east across Television Rd up 3 moderate hill climbs to Harold Town Park contiuing east to Sweeney Line on which we cycled north to Division Rd. Then east on Division up another hill before a downhill ride across Hgw 28 to Jermyn Line. South on Jermyn to Hgw 7 & a short jog east to David Fife Rd. South on David Fife across the Indian R to River Rd which takes you past Hope Mill as you ride into Lang. We cycled out of Lang on Allandale Rd to Nelson Rd & south to the PHTCT which took us back to Peterborough for lunch at The Porch & Pint (705-750-0598). Dark storm clouds that started to appear as were cycling on the TCT produced a deluge of rain as we approached the Old Keene Rd & lasted until we were inside The Porch & Pint where we were reunited with Conrad’s group who just missed the rain. This 45 km ride thru the undulating Douro countryside does have several moderate hill climbs until you cross Hgw 7 to enter Otonabee Twp where the terrain flattens out, at least on this route!
