Aug 23 Ride in Prince Edward County

We had 19 bikers on this ride. We left Ptbo at 9:00 & arrived at The Grange Winery at 10:30. Turn off Hwy 401 at exit 522(Wooler Rd) & procede along the Loyalist Pkwy thru Consecon then left onto Danforth Rd & left onto Closson Rd.We did not start the cycling until 11:15 but enjoyed a ride of 35 km around the shores of Consecon Lake. I am going to describe the route that we would recommend for future trips. From the Grange turn left onto Clossen, then left on to Chase, left on to Schoharie, right on to Melville then left on to Lakeshore. This is a very scenic section. Where the lake narrows there is a bike trail across the lake(railway line) , turn left onto the trail( which is in reasonable condition), ride across the lake to Schoharie Rd,turn left & ride to Chase Rd & return to the winery. We had lunch at the winery starting at 1:40 & finishing at 3:15! In the future I would recommend that we could do the tour of the winery & have lunch on the return trip. There is a good restaurant in Brighton. We arrived in Ptbo at 5:00. For futher info you can access the Prince Edward County website@ www.pec.on.ca & the Map of Trenton on the Mapquest website. This a recommended route. The terrain is fairly flat, roads are paved, with pretty pastoral views. Schohaire Rd & Cty Rd #2 are quite busy so try to find alternate routes when possible.Contiuing on the rail trail to Closson Rd would be an option to avoid Schohaire Rd
